You may remember Commodore, Spectrum, and certainly the Amiga for sure, but do you still remember the Atari and Amstrad? If not, don’t worry!
The Computer Museum of Kallio in Helsinki presents a travelling computer exhibition I love 8-bit®. It is a functional and interactive presentation in which entertainment is an essential part of the experience. You can play, test, and have fun with old favorites. I love 8-bit® is much more than just old computers in action, it is an emotional experience for entire generations.
The exhibition focuses on the computer culture revolution that began in the 1970s. At that time, computers became commonplace in homes and businesses, permanently changing everyday life. The computer culture of that era taught entire generations how to program and use computers in their own way. Were things better back then? Find out at the I love 8-bit® exhibition!
What were computers like before the Internet and the PC era? How did they work, and what kinds of software did they run? And what was the next generation of 8-bit devices—the 16-bit devices—like?
You can learn all this and much more at the I love 8-bit® exhibition, which showcases the computer culture of its time and lets you try out and see legendary devices from computer history in action.
The traveling exhibition I love 8-bit® has been bringing computer culture from the 1980s into the present day to various locations since 2022. Over 35,000 visitors have explored the history of information technology from 40 years ago.

Classic games are making a comeback
What games were people playing in the 1980s, and on what devices? And how does a flight simulator work on a computer that’s 40 years old, has a millionth of the processing power of today’s computers, features black-and-white graphics, and loads games from a cassette?
You’ll find this and lots of other fun things at the I love 8-bit® exhibitions. The authentic experiences of early digital culture are truly unique.
